21 August is the International Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism.
For the past six months, at the time of creating the illustration, my Ukraine has been suffering from terrorism every day and all my thoughts are constantly with Ukraine, with every Ukrainian, no matter how far away from their home.
And I didn't want to plunge even more into this amount of pain and tears... I just wanted to imagine how in the future we will honour the memory of all those who died on this day. That's why the sunny day is a reflection of happiness and joy, and the girl and her mother are life. And the candle that seems to be pulled through the paper is a symbol of memory.
